finding some NUKE PROOF history

Last week i was contacted by a very kind lady, Anne, trough the Serotta Forum.
She told me some very interesting things about the NUKE PROOF brand and showed me a few pictures of an old catalog.
She will send me some high res pictures and i will show that here and tell what she tell's me about NUKE PROOF

Facebook Serotta MTB

I am not so into the social networks but i have started my own for the Serotta Mountainbikes
There not that common so i hope to meet some other serotta mountainbikes owners,..come and join the club ;)

offtopic: i also have a Lambretta Facebook, it's about the project i am working on, bringing the old Lambretta Scooter back

Fat, Serotta, Nuke Proof in my living room

I was expecting to receive some parts and decals to finish the Timax but unfortunately i didn't so i made some pictures form the bikes which are parked in the livingroom

Twenty years of Paul - interview in DirtRag magazine

I got to be honest, I do not know much about tyres.
Back in the time when i rode my Klein Pinnacle I was impressed by the Tioga Psycho and because i liked those i never tried any other,.... why change a winning team ?

Right now i still use Tioga Psycho's and found myself some new old stoch of the regular black/skin wall and amber coloured kevlar once.
For the Serotta ATX i found some new Onza Honch tyres

Since i started building bikes again with the intention to build bikes like i would have wanted them when i could not afford them i have been looking for tyres which would fit in the right colour scheme.
I think Amber looks good with Titanium, and the Black Honch with the black/red Serotta
And for the current build, the Serotta TiMax i have found myself some NOS Onza Porcupines in White.
I think this will look great with the white frame.
These Onza's are probably the most wanted retro tyres right now, and these go for crazy prices, they ask for these tyres much more then for car tyres ;)

Paul Component Engineering

Today I received some Paul Components StopLight canti brakes combined with MoonUnits, which are the cable hangers.
This is time to tell something more about the PAUL COMP parts i have.

The StopLights:
The arms are machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum alloy with a 3.5" length. The upper 70mm are based on a 12.5mm diameter cylinder bent outward at 25mm from the bottom of this section of the arm. The remaining 45mm have the front face milled away leaving it flat, and have three holes drilled through this upper section to reduce weight. The lower 25mm has an 11mm slot milled through it that is 1/4" (6.35mm) wide for the brake pad holder (eyebolt) to pass through and adjust up and down. At the bottom of the arm is a base, again machined from the same single piece of aluminum, that is 19mm (1/2") wide, 21.3mm hugh and 16.3mm deep. This base incorporates the pivot for the arm and supports the spring.



Some other parts are the Thumbies
These are mounts which allow you to use shifters from shimano and are a great alternative to the XT thumbshifters.
These are shifter mounts designed to be used with indexed bar end (aka barcon) shifters from Shimano, Campagnolo, or SRAM. These indexed shifters are readily available in 8, 9, and 10-speed, and most have a friction option for everything else.

I have mounted these Thumbies on the Serotta TiMax.
On that same Serotta I am using the silver Paul rear derrailleur, i have used this same derrailleur on the ATX from 96 and it still works fine although i had to replace 1 part,which is gold coloured but i will make this silver


On the Other Serotta, The ATX, i have the Lovelevers, Motolite V-brakes and the front and rear derrailleurs.
I used the same LoveLevers on the Yo Eddy , but these were black/Silver

the fun thing about the Paul Comp company is the fact that if you need to know something and you email the company, because it is still alive and kicking, chances are big that Paul answers the email himself ;)
